THINKS YOU SHOULD GET TO KNOW DXY
POSTED BY DXY STAFF
DXY got its start building apps for Apple’s first mobile device, the Newton. Well, not really, but there is a connection.
When the founder of DXY, Dan Young, got his hands on his first Newton, he thought the concept of handheld mobile devices had serious potential—so long as you didn’t try to have them recognize handwriting. Realistically, devices in the 1990s were good for managing emails, but not much else. They were simply not ready for primetime.
When they were, Dan started DXY.
DXY is a mobile technology firm. We do what we love: we build mobile software and systems. It’s our work and our passion. We create innovative, powerful solutions for companies, organizations and for the people that use mobile devices.
Our niche is the convergence of mobile technology and the physical world. We've developed systems that use an iPad to measure the severity of a athlete's concussion, that use a Bluetooth dongle to communicate with a vehicle, and use cellular transceivers to track medical equipment.
Our projects are typically larger in scope that incorporate software running on a device, paired hardware and an integrated backend to support everything.
We have extensive experience developing firmware for embedded and mobile devices.
Our team consists of software developers, graphic designers, architects, researchers and Dan. We don’t offshore or outsource our dev work; we build everything ourselves (and we are exceptionally proud of our work).
Our team has filed for over half a dozen patents in the mobile technology space, some of which have been on our own while others in conjunction with our clients.
We work with a wide range of clients, from small startups to Fortune 1000 clients in the US and in the EU. Here's a sampling of the firms for whom we have worked:
- Goodyear
- The Cleveland Clinic
- SPX
- Cardinal Health
- FedEx Ground
- ResCare
- Lincoln Electric
- Nottingham Spirk
- Cleveland State University
- Qipus
- TravelCenters
- Standard Register
- Diebold
Our apps have won awards from the National Council for Public History, eTech Ohio and the Northeast Ohio Software Association. Our concussion assessment app was named one of the Cleveland Clinic's "Top 10" innovations of 2011.
The media also likes to talk to us about what we know.
The bottom line is that we’re good at what we do because we have an extremely deep understanding of the business and technology surrounding mobile. What makes our firm great is that we also love what we do.
If you’re here and you’re shopping for a mobile tech firm to build your apps, give us a call. You’ll be surprised what a team of passionate mobile developers and designers can do for you.
